Surg Solution’s team is composed by an experienced group of people coming from the medical, technical and management fields, that have been working together for a long period.



Santiago Descarrega
Co-founder and CEO

Santiago has more than 17 years’ experience as an International and Entrepreneurship Consultant. He founded his own management consultancy company (Sendas Value) in 2008. Santiago has an extensive experience in managing and leading large multinational and multi-year projects in very demanding environments. He has worked as an external consultant for the IFC (World Bank) and he is currently collaborating with the Angel Investors Network at IESE Business School of Barcelona.

Jordi Descarrega
Co-founder and Medical Director

Jordi is attending his 4th year of residency at the Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetics Surgery department of the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona.  He is passionate about anastomosis and its procedure. As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Jordi is systematically experiencing the difficulties and issues of the current procedures. He was the one who designed a first draft of VessConnect.

Germán Bellemmi
Co-founder and Engineering Direcor

Germán is a Bio-medical Engineer from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Barcelona Tech). He is passionate about design, prototyping and quality production. He is currently writing his PhD thesis based on VessConnect.



Joan Fontdevila
Co-founder and Medical Advisor

Joan is the Chief of the Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery at Hospital Clinic Of Barcelona. He has more than 20 years’ experience as a surgeon, dealing with procedures involving anastomosis. Joan has published numerous research papers and he has been involved in major pioneering techniques in reconstructive surgery. Since his early days as resident, Joan has been investigating on how to make vascular anastomosis procedures easier and safer.


Daniel Rodríguez
Engineer Advisor

Daniel is an associate-professor at Univesitat Politècnica de Catalunya and a member of its Biomaterials, Biomechanical and Tissue Enginering department. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. His main areas of interest involve new materials, vascular devices and implants. Daniel has published in major scientific magazines and he has been involved in innovative treatments for medical implants and devices. Since 2016, he is the president of the Sociedad Ibérica de Biomecánica y Biomateriales (SIBB).


Meike Bomhof
Strategic Advisor

Meike is a senior partner at Hull Associate, a global consultancy specialized in reimbursement, government affairs and market access services for Medical Technology manufacturers. She has developed all her carrier in the healthcare sector, working as a consultant for the last 10 years, both for multinationals, like Baxter, and start-up companies. Meike is a visiting professor on reimbursement and market access related areas at the Design Health Barcelona (d•HEALTH Barcelona) postgraduate course.
